‘Rust’ shooting prompts Dwayne Johnson to never use real guns on movie set again – EzAnime.net

Dwayne Johnson has lent his significant star power to the growing group of show business professionals who pledged to stop using real guns in their productions following the death of Halyna Hutchins.

The “Red Notice” actor spoke in an interview with Variety where he first commented on the deadly incident that occurred on the set of the indie-western “Rust.” Alec Baldwin was holding a gun that he was led to believe was unloaded when a live bullet was somehow fired killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

“First of all, I was heartbroken,” Johnson began. We lost a life. My heart goes out to his family and everyone on set. I’ve known Alec for a long time, too.

That’s when the actor pointed out that the Netflix action movie, which he co-stars with Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, will be the last movie in which he uses real firearms.

“I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without a lack of clarity here, that any movie we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions, any movie, TV show, or anything we make or produce, we will not use real weapons at all. «He promised on behalf of himself and his production company.

Johnson added: “We are going to switch to rubber guns, and we will take care of that in the post. We are not going to worry about dollars; We will not worry about what it costs.

The actor noted that there are strict protocols and security measures that are always taken in the movies he works with, especially when playing real firearms. However, he noted that accidents can still occur regardless of how many safety measures are in play.

“When something like this of this magnitude happens, [that is] This is heartbreaking, I think the wisest and smart thing to do is pause for a second and really re-examine how they are going to move forward and how we are going to work together, “he added.

Representatives for Dwayne Johnson did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

With his latest promise, the former WWE star joins several in Hollywood who have stated that they will no longer be working with real firearms. More recently, a collection of 200 cinematographers signed a pledge stating that they will refuse to work on any production that involves the use of real weapons.

Shortly after Hutchins’ death, a Change.org petition garnered thousands of signatures asking Baldwin and others to use their influence in Hollywood to ban the use of firearms for life on movie sets.
