The end of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ made it clear that the new Captain America of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is Sam Wlson (Anthony Mackie), but one of the questions that exist after the last episode is what the future will be of actor Sebastian Stan at Marvel Studios.
Years ago, before the premiere of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014), Stan, who has played Bucky Barnes in different MCU productions, admitted that he had signed a contract with Marvel for nine films. Including the first of Captain America (2011), ‘Civil War’ (2016), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), ‘Black Panther’ (2018) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019), it has six films.
To the feature films we must add his participation in the series in which he starred as the Winter Soldier, so Sebastian Stan’s future in the UCM could be defined by two or three more productions.
What is clear about the character of Bucky Barnes is that he seems to have buried his identity as the Winter Soldier. Malcolm Spellman himself, the creator of the series, told ‘ComicBook’ that Bucky will no longer be ‘the Winter Soldier’.
“In the scene with the Flag-Smashers in episode 6, when one of those people gets out of that truck and thanks Bucky, that’s the first time he’s been a hero. So, at the end of this series, Bucky is emerging as if he had got rid of the Winter Soldier’s burden. He has found a new family, ironically, it’s a black family in Louisiana.
Sebastian Stan would return for ‘Captain America 4’
Hours after the premiere of the last episode of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, it was known that Spellman is already working hand in hand with Marvel Studios on a new Captain America movie, of course, with the new ‘Cap’ as the protagonist, Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie.
The information was released exclusively by the American media ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, which added that Dalan Musson will co-write the script for what would be the fourth film of the superhero in the UCM, after ‘Captain America: the first Avenger’, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier ‘and’ Captain America: Civil War ‘.
In the report, ‘THR’ explains that so far no more details are known about the cast that the film would comprise and that it still does not have a director, but it will surely have many of the characters that shone in ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, including Sebastian Stan as Bucky.
A first Sam Wilson film as the ‘Cap’ would have as a starting point in the development of its plot everything that happened in the Marvel series. In addition, it is still unknown if we will see Chris Evans as Steve Rogers or his character in a different time, as in the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, when we saw him as an old man.
